Campus Response to the Executive Order on Immigration

February 1, 2017

Dear UCR Community,

In recent days, I have publicly shared my deep concerns regarding President Trump’s executive order restricting immigration and entry into the United States for individuals from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen. This executive order is an affront to our university’s core mission and values, and has directly shaken the lives of many members of the community. UC Riverside has long taken pride in its humanity and support for others, and we will continue to embrace all who wish to be a part of our vibrant academic community.

The joint statement issued by President Napolitano and the Chancellors of the University of California challenges the executive order’s premise, and more importantly, underscores the significant contributions that persons from around the world make to our campus and our nation.

We are working directly with the UC Office of the President to closely monitor federal policies and to ensure the safety and protection of all members of the UCR community. In the meantime, if you are a student, scholar, staff, or faculty member with immediate concerns, please contact Kimberly Gentile in the Office of International Affairs (email: kimberly.gentile@ucr.edu, phone: 951-827-4113).

A list of available resources is provided below.

Sincerely,

Kim A. Wilcox
