Telling UCR's Story

UCR has once again reached an all-time high for both four-year and six-year graduation rates. Over the course of five cohorts of incoming students, four-year rates have increased by 12 percentage points and six-year rates by 9 points. In addition to raising graduation rates overall, UCR continues to achieve near-parity across ethnic groups and income levels.

Universities, leaders, and media outlets across the country have taken notice of UCR's success.  Here are two recent examples of UCR on the national stage:

  • In 2014, UCR became one of the charter members of the University Innovation Alliance (UIA), a collaboration of 11 public research universities focused on improving student outcomes nationwide.  This past November, Scott Pelley brought the 60 Minutes cameras to a UIA meeting to interview Chancellor Wilcox and the other campus leaders about their joint efforts to increase higher education opportunity across socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.

Chancellor Wilcox speaks at the Council on Competitiveness in Washington, DC

  • In December, the Council on Competitiveness invited Chancellor Wilcox to represent UCR at their annual national forum. The Council on Competitiveness is a nonpartisan organization consisting of university presidents, CEOs, labor leaders, and national lab directors working to promote innovation and growth in the U.S. economy. This year’s forum focused on where the U.S. needs to go in terms of future drivers of competitiveness. Other panelists included principals from John Deere, Pepsi, Arizona State University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Lockheed Martin, and more. You can view a recording of the forum on C-SPAN (Chancellor Wilcox's session starts at 16:38).
