Thursday, February 5, 2026
Join us as we celebrate the inauguration of Chancellor S. Jack Hu, the 10th chancellor of the University of California, Riverside. This event marks a bold, brilliant new chapter of leadership for UCR.
To introduce our guests some of the unique and exciting work at UC Riverside, we would like to offer the following tours during the morning of Chancellor Hu’s inauguration. Please use this online form by January 22 to indicate which tour(s) you would like to join.
*NEW* Tour Session 0: 3:30 - 4:30pm on February 4
UCR ARTS is the West Coast’s premier university photography museum and contemporary art center. Located in downtown Riverside, this unique facility brings together the California Museum of Photography and the Barbara & Art Culver Center of the Arts, including a state-of-the-art film and video screening room, an incubator for advanced research in the arts, dance studios, and a black-box theater.
Tour Session I: 9:00 - 10:30am on February 5
Option A - School of Medicine / UCR Health Tour
UCR plays an essential role in training physicians and providing healthcare to one of the most medically underserved regions of the country. This tour highlighting these contributions will begin at the Center for Simulated Patient Care in the Orbach Science Library. The group will then move to the Education Buildings and conclude the tour with a discussion with current UCR School of Medicine students and a UCR Health presentation.
Option B - Multidisciplinary Research Tour
This collaborative research tour provides the opportunity to hear from UCR's innovative research faculty, beginning in the Multidisciplinary Research Building (MRB) with the region's premier wet lab incubator space. Guests will then visit the Calit2 NanoFabrication and Electron Microscopy Facility (NEMF) and the Center for Superconducting Quantum Engineering (CSQE). CSQE includes a rare Helium Ion Microscope, as well as a quantum measurement lab featuring a Bluefors dilution refrigerator quantum computing system.
Tour Session II: 11:00 - 12:30pm on February 5
Option A - Citrus Variety Collection Tour
The UCR Givaudan Citrus Variety Collection is one of the most extensive collections of citrus diversity in the world, and connects UCR to its roots as a Citrus Experiment Station beginning in 1907. Dr. Tracy Kahn will lead guests through this outdoor tour (closed-toe, walking shoes recommended) that will include some citrus tasting.
Option B - Student Support Services Tour
UCR’s consistent number one ranking in social mobility is due in large part to the exceptional holistic support systems for students from all backgrounds. This tour provides a window into these vibrant networks through the student resource centers in Costo Hall, as well as the Basic Needs central office and the R’Pantry.
